Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait to make the leap into movie stardom, as director Martin Scorsese has decided against casting the Portuguese star in his upcoming project.
Ronaldo had been promised a debut role in the 72-year-old’s new movie, “The Manipulator.”
The film is based on the life and times of Alessandro Proto, the Italian millionaire who supposedly inspired the character of Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” novels.
Apparently Ronaldo’s luxurious new Manhattan loft, in the lavish Trump Tower building in New York, has been chosen as a location by the producers, and a small role was promised to the Los Blancos ace as a sweetener.
In the end Scorsese opted not to use Ronaldo, which has earned him a cool €10 million in compensation, though it has denied the 30-year-old his movie cameo with Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio.
Reports indicate that the producers’ u-turn was based on fears that Ronaldo would take up too much of the spotlight, and thus distract from the film.
Actor Channing Tatum is believed to be the favourite replace the Portuguese in the Hollywood flick.
