AC Milan‘s Nigel de Jong could return to the Premier League this January with Swansea City, according to reports in the British press.

During his three year stint with Manchester City, the Dutch international won the FA Cup and the league title and is rumoured to be the subject of a bid of just over €5 million from the struggling Welsh club who desperately need to improve if they are to escape relegation.

De Jong, who has 80 caps for the Netherlands and was a part of the side that reached the World Cup final in 2010, signed a contract extension last summer to keep him with the Rossoneri until 2018 but is now wanted by the Swans, The Sun report.

Despite this, the 31-year-old has made just five appearances under new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and is now thought to favour a move away.

Claudio Ranieri and Leicester City were also being linked with the former Ajax star, but have since denied any interest, while MLS outfit LA Galaxy are being mentioned as another possible destination.
