With his future still uncertain, AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy looks to have his heart set on a Serie A return although not with his parent club.

Despite joining Monaco on loan last summer, the 23-year-old’s future was thrown into doubt after the Ligue 1 outfit refused to play him in order to avoid triggering his buyout clause, while a return to the San Siro has become complicated following Luiz Adriano’s collapsed move to China.

As such, the attacker is believed to be keen on a move to Roma, where he could potentially replace Gervinho, a player rumoured to be nearing an exit.

Chinese Super League clubs have also expressed interest in the Italian international, while CSKA Moscow are the latest to declare an interest in him, joining Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.

Former club Genoa may also be an option, with the Grifone likely to wait until the closing stages of the January transfer window to make a loan offer.
