With a trailblazing campaign of goalscoring in the Europa League already behind him, Federico Bernardeschi will get to taste a potential future of playing in a Premier League atmosphere as Fiorentina face Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Thursday.
The Italy Under-21 starlet already has a history of drawing the attention of England with his talent, as Sir Alex Ferguson had once labelled the industrious attacker as a smart investment five years ago for Manchester United.
Instead however, the then Old Trafford boss had to settle for Federico Macheda once Bernardeschi’s father blocked the move from taking place.
Now 22, the player has caught the attention of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and again Manchester United, as the Premier League clubs seem willing to splash the cash for his services.
While Carlo Ancelotti would be pleased to mark his arrival in Bavaria by securing the promising Italian, Antonio Conte’s ongoing links with Chelsea might provide stronger lure. Although the Red Devils are believed to have already put forward an offer of €28 million.
Added brilliance in London for the second leg of his Round of 32 clash against Spurs will surely inflate his value, as Fiorentina President Andrea Della Valle is unlikely to part with his prized gem for anything less than €40 million.
