Having struggled for playing time this season, the Japanese international has been linked with an exit from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with the Reds among the clubs interested in him

The agent of Inter full back Yuto Nagatomo has insisted that his client would prefer to remain with the Italian giants for the foreseeable future, despite interest from Liverpool.

With the 29-year-old’s current contract set to expire this summer, there have been fears over his renewal with the Nerazzurri given his diminishing role in the squad having made just 13 appearances in Serie A so far this season.

Federico Pastorello, Nagatomo’s agent, has revealed that there has been interest from England, namely from Liverpool and Manchester United but insisted that his client is still prioritising staying with Inter.

“We haven’t set any meetings up yet and at the moment there are no major developments,” he told “We have offers from English clubs, but Nagatomo wants to stay in Italy and specifically with Inter.”

The former Cesena star revealed earlier this month that he turned down a move to Manchester United in order to remain at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and would happily do so again.

Nevertheless, the final word will go to club President Erick Thohir who will assess the situation as Pastorello remains confident that there will be news sooner rather than later.
