A future in the Premier League appears to be on the cards for Antonio Conte as the Azzurri boss awaits the final decision from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to seal his next coaching destination.
Ongoing communication between the club’s owner and fellow candidate Diego Simeone this week has signalled a countdown towards a final decision on which coach will be the next man in charge, but it appears that Conte looks well on his way to London.
Abramovich travelled to Holland on Wednesday for Atletico Madrid’s Champions League match against PSV, where he met with the Argentine tactician, but the former Juventus coach remains in pole position to complete the move as he’s already arranged a deal.
In fact, at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday, the Italy boss was seen in the stands with Chelsea technical director Michael Kevin Emenalo during the Bianconeri’s match against Bayern Munich.
If all remains on course, Conte is believed to be in line for a three-year contract with Chelsea and a salary worth €6.5 million per season.
He would take over immediately following his involvement in Euro 2016 in France this summer.
